“Ella” vs. “The word No”

Ella is gradually learning to accept “No” as a part of life, albeit somewhat reluctantly. She now understands that pulling the leaves off of plants, smacking Vu up the side of the head, and sticking her hand in the fireplace are not acceptable actions. However, it’s still somewhat of a game to her. For instance, when Ella transports her little self from the living room to the kitchen, she will inevitably pause adjacent to the peace-lily plant. She then slowly scans her beady little eyes across the perimeter of the room in an effort to identify the closest parental figure. Once eye contact has been obtained, Ella will slowly move her hand towards the plant, knowing just when to stop prior to touching it. She never loses eye contact throughout this process. Once the word “No” is politely shouted from across the room, Ella strongly sighs, retracts her hand, and then carries on with her mission.

Ella enjoyed spending this past weekend with family. On Sunday, Ella had lunch with Great-Grandma Gladys, Mimi, and Papaw B. She couldn’t get enough of Gladys’ mashed potatoes. Later that afternoon, she watched the Colts game w/ Nana, Papaw P., and Uncle Tony and Aunt Andrea. She was happy to witness yet another Colts victory, and hopes her streak of not seeing a Colts loss extends through next weekend when the Patriots come to town.

Coming in December – Ella can’t wait to show off her most recent gift....a Christmas dress, which was provided by Aunt Margie when she was in town last week. Be sure to check back in December for what's certain to be an unforgettable photo.

Ella, taunting Vu
