Ella survives a weekend alone with Dad

Mom traveled to Illinois this past weekend to attend a Horse Show w/ Papaw B. Dad had the work pager, so he and Ella stayed home. Dad relished this opportunity. A weekend to prove to Mom that he could independently withstand all that Ella has to offer, and still complete the household tasks Mom routinely completes with such ease. Well, Dad wasn't that naive, so he called in backup (Nana) on Saturday. Once Dad completed his chores, he, Nana, and Ella went shopping. Nana needed to pick up a few items for herself, and felt Ella needed some new clothing accessories as well. Ella had a great time shopping. She has recently learned to wave "goodbye". On most occasions it's a single, closed-fisted, wave. However, depending upon how excited she gets, she may decide to throw in a second hand as well. This gesture was best applied at M.G. Tates on Saturday. Dad was holding Ella as Nana stood in line to checkout. The cashier noticed Dad and Ella and said, "Oh, aren't you a cutie!” Dad beamed, and replied, "Thank you!” The cashier bewilderedly responded, "Not you, the baby". The cashier then started waving goodbye as Dad and Ella walked away. Ella reciprocated the gesture with her own closed-fisted wave. She then felt compelled to wave goodbye to everyone in the mall. This continued all the way to the car.

Dad enjoyed his weekend alone with Ella, but they were both happy to have Mom back at home. However, nobody was more pleased to see Mom than Vu.
