Santa Checks in on Ella and Coltyn

This past weekend Ella and Coltyn received even more motivation to continue exhibiting good behavior, as the man in red made a special visit to their daycare. Accompanied by Mrs. Claus, she and Santa sang songs, spoke of Santa’s exhausting days that lead up to Christmas, and even visited briefly with each of the students. As past posts would indicate, Ella and Coltyn have never really enjoyed their visits with Santa. Excitement and anticipation always preceded inevitable tears, and cries for help. However, both kids thought this year would be different. Ella waited patiently in line, and rehearsed her speech to Santa several times as the line grew shorter. The same could not be said for Coltyn. He instantly fixated on Santa, and retreated quickly to the arms of Mom/Dad. Once it became their turn to visit, both kids had sunken their claws into the legs of both Mom and Dad. Per Mom/Dad, there was no turning back, however. Come tears or smiles, Ella and Coltyn would get their visit, and Mom/Dad would get their Kodak moment. Eventually, Ella reached an agreement with Mom and Dad that she would visit, under the circumstance that she would sit on Mrs. Claus’ lap, and Coltyn, by default, would sit on the lap of Santa. Mom and Dad obliged, and threw each kid upon the laps of the patiently waiting Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Ella emitted several, albeit uncomfortable, smiles while Coltyn emitted cries that still resonate throughout the halls of their daycare. After a few seconds, Coltyn was quickly removed as his skin color had started to turn a deep shade of blue. Ella, in similar fashion to Ralphie from the movie “A Christmas Story”, completely lost focus of what her Christmas list included, and started blabbering nonsense items such as, “a ball”. Dad quickly intervened and reminded Ella of the items she so desperately desired. Ella, completely appreciative of Dad’s assistance, beamed as she quickly, and methodically, rattled off the rest of her Christmas list. Crisis averted.

Here are the results of that memorable visit:
