Ella's Pumpkin

On Saturday, Ella ventured to the Stoneycreek Farm Pumpkin Harvest Festival in search of the perfect pumpkin to place on her front doorstep for all to admire. This particular pumpkin patch is great for kids, with plenty to do. There were several inflatable bounce houses, all of which Ella enjoyed from afar, but chose not to enter without the accompaniment of Mom or Dad. They offered a pony ride area as well. Ella hopped up on the largest pony “Dusty” and proudly walked him around the confines. In addition, they had a couple of straw mazes, all of which were a little too advanced for Ella. Plus, Ella wasn’t too fond of “straw”. Evidently, its coarse texture was not a pleasantry to her skin. As a result, she spent the rest of the afternoon “scolding” straw as she walked past it. This consisted of Ella sticking out her index finger and bellowing a long, and drawn out, “Nooooooo”.

After an extended search in the pumpkin patch, Ella eventually located a large and small pumpkin, both worthy of taking home. Almost immediately, the pumpkin’s had assumed the monikers of “Daddy’s” (larger pumpkin) and “Ella’s” (smaller pumpkin). As one would imagine, “Ella’s” did not leave her side the rest of the afternoon, and it was not allowed to sit outside on the front porch adjacent to “Daddy’s”. Instead, Ella proudly carried it to bed for nap time, to the dinner table for dinner, to the living room to watch Blue’s Clues, and back to bed that night. The pumpkin is already beginning to show the signs of being “spoiled”...
