One morning, late last week, Mom awoke to a faint call of "Momma, Momma" that gradually got louder. Mom's initial thought was that a stranger had infiltrated the home and was in the process of extracting Ella. However, she soon realized that wasn't the case as a small silhouette of Ella appeared in the doorway of Mom and Dad's bedroom, with no evidence of an accompanying perpetrator. Ella, clutching both her blanket and stuffed lamb, continued to stand in the doorway calling for "Momma". As Dad awoke, both he and Mom confirmed that Ella had simply scaled her crib in a daring escape of her confines. Ella, never one to leave a comrade behind, managed to do this without losing her blanket and stuffed lamb...a pretty impressive feat considering the obstacles she navigated in the unrelenting darkness. As a result, Mom and Dad succumbed to the inevitable, that Ella had simply outgrown her crib. Fortunately, Ella's crib easily converts to a toddler bed by replacing the front with a more toddler-friendly frame. This allows Ella to easily climb in and out of bed without the risk of injury. Ella quickly adapted to this new found freedom and thus far hasn't abused it.
Ella experienced "fireworks" for the first time this past weekend. She attended the Conner Prairie Symphony, which included a fireworks display immediately after. Ella was mesmerized by the colors and sounds, and did not seem to be startled. She had a great 4th of July weekend and enjoyed spending the time with her family and friends.
