100th Birthday, 4th of July, etc

The last few weeks have been relatively busy, but momentous nonetheless. A couple of weeks back, great-grandmother Gladys celebrated her 100th birthday amongst family and friends at Tipton park. The night before, Ella and Coltyn chaperoned Gladys to her favorite restaurant, Outback Steakhouse. Gladys was able to eat for free, however, Ella made sure she shared her birthday dessert with her. As the picture below indicates, Ella and Gladys attacked the dessert as if would be another 100 years before they would be presented with another. Ella, and the ingenuity that accompanies a 2 year old, provided drinking straws to complete the consumption of the melted dessert, which was all that remained from their eating exhibition.

The 4th of July celebration, which was suppose to take place at Conner Prairie, was a wash out due to inclement weather. However, the night before Ella and Coltyn invited Papaw and Mimi over to watch their own fireworks display. Coltyn, not quite the pyrotechnic yet, chose to sleep through the thunderous explosions. Ella, on the other hand, was totally enthralled. On Saturday morning, the entire family attended the CarmelFest parade with Nana and Papaw. Both Ella and Coltyn enjoyed the bands, floats, etc, but seemed most interested in consuming the candy that was being passed out. Later that night, Ella and Coltyn visited with Uncle Toey and Aunt Andrea. It was a great way to end the holiday weekend.
