On Saturday night, the Price’s met Papaw, Mimi, and Gladys at Outback in Kokomo. Dinner was good, and the occasion was especially momentous for both Dad and Coltyn. Mid-dinner, Coltyn purged a healthy “#2” into his diaper. In fear it might quickly leak to his clothing, Dad graciously accepted to escort Coltyn to the men’s room to replace his diaper. In that moment, Dad was completely oblivious to the potentially life altering events that would lie ahead. Upon arriving in the men’s room, dad quickly noticed the absence of a diaper changing station. In retrospect, Dad should have immediately left the men’s room and returned Coltyn to his mother so that should could do the deed. However, it was Mother’s day, and changing Coltyn’s diaper was the least he could do. Dad methodically scanned the confines of the restroom in search of a makeshift changing station. The surface area of the sink was clearly inadequate, so it would not do. The urinal was occupied at the time, and besides Dad would never have reasonably considered changing him atop a urinal, come on now. By default, the only remaining location was the handicap stall. Dad gently placed Coltyn atop the shelf/hand-rail that was adjacent to the toilet. In that same procedure, Dad inadvertently dropped the diaper changing pad (meant solely to protect Coltyn from coming into contact with contaminated surfaces, such as the men’s room) into the toilet. It was obvious the person that had frequented the stall previously was pre-occupied with other things, as they failed to flush their prize winning stool. Ordinarily, Dad would have simply flushed the toilet, prize winning stool, changing pad, and all. However, this particular pad accompanied the matching diaper bag, and Dad feared the repercussions from Mom if it would have been left behind. So, Dad rolled up his sleeves and balanced a smiling Coltyn with one hand, and retrieved the fallen, and nearly sunken, pad with the other. Upon extraction, Dad quickly hurled it across the men’s room to a close proximity of the sink. As Dad returned to his original responsibility of changing Coltyn’s diaper, he quickly realized that Coltyn had tucked his suede shoes into his soiled derrière. Dad quickly removed the shoes and hurled them across the men’s room to a close proximity of the changing pad, which was now beginning to show signs of decay. After finishing Coltyn’s diaper, Dad then began the arduous task of washing the dirty articles in the sink. Dad and Coltyn eventually made it out of the men’s room later that day, heavily exhausted from the preceding events, but victorious nonetheless, and richer from their experience.
On Sunday, Mom celebrated Mother's Dad relaxing with Nana and Papaw. Dad retrieved dinner from PF Chang's so Mom didn't have to cook. It was a nice way to end the weekend.
Coltyn: "Mom and Dad call that a ceiling fan".
Hunter: "What’s a ceiling fan?"
Coltyn: "I don’t know, but we need to find out. "
