Ella Visits the Zoo

Ella spent this past weekend visiting her Nana, while Coltyn assumed “yard duty” assignment with Mom and Dad. Coltyn is still too young to appreciate natures captive wonders. So instead, he witnessed firsthand the joys of home ownership and the continual upkeep it requires. He took more of a managerial role, and sat back and observed while Mom and Dad maintained the yard, cleaned mulch beds, applied new mulch, strained back muscles, dodged hostile bumble-bees, and got sun-burned.

On Saturday, Ella ventured to the Indianapolis Zoo with Nana and Uncle Buzz. Papaw was unable to attend this time as he was on a fishing trip, or as Ella phrased it, "Papaw fishin wit da boyz". Ella enjoyed her visit. Her favorite exhibits were the baby bears and the giraffes. She couldn’t wait to get to school on Monday morning to tell her friends about her exciting visit. In her own words:

- “I go zoo, with my Nana and Uncie Buzz” (Ella beams with pride)
- “I see Giraffe – looooong neck” (as she draws attention to her neck and extends it as if she has now become a giraffe herself)
- “Baby bears play, Mama bear will bite you” (the latter part of the sentence spoken with extreme aggression, which concerns Mom and Dad)

Ok, as I read this all I can say is having grown up with Denise-- the apple did not fall far from the tree. Ella is a beautiful reproduction of Denise and Denise gave me many times reason for concern.

I love you Denise but I had to call you out!
